Cookie Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-24.
This page explains what cookies and browser storage are used by Archdle, operated by Samuel Orlando (Italy), why we use them, and how you can control them. For any question about this policy, write to contact@archdle.it.
1. Cookies set by Archdle
The table below lists every cookie and browser-storage item that Archdle itself sets. All of these are strictly necessary for the Service to function and do not require your consent under Art. 122 of the Italian Codice della Privacy and the ePrivacy Directive.
| Name | Storage type | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| sb-access-token | HTTP cookie | Authenticates your signed-in session (issued by Supabase Auth). | 1 hour; refreshed automatically |
| sb-refresh-token | HTTP cookie | Renews your access token silently without requiring you to log in again. | 30 days |
| archdle_g_{category} | HTTP cookie | Records that a guest has already completed today's puzzle in this browser. Prevents replaying the same puzzle after clearing localStorage, and bridges the guest session into a newly created account if you sign up after playing. Contains only a play date, an anonymous use-case identifier, and the game outcome. No personal identifier is stored. | 48 hours |
| archdle:cookies:v1 | localStorage | Stores your cookie-banner choice so the banner is not shown again. | Until you clear site storage |
| archdle:guest:{date}:{category} | localStorage | Saves your in-progress guest game (attempts, hints revealed, status) so you can resume after a page refresh. Automatically stale once the daily puzzle changes. | Until the daily puzzle resets or you clear storage |
2. Cookies set by third-party services
2.1 Cloudflare Turnstile
The sign-up form loads Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-preserving bot-detection widget provided by Cloudflare, Inc. Turnstile may set cookies or use browser signals (such as your IP address and user-agent) to determine whether you are a human. These cookies are strictly necessary to protect the sign-up flow from automated abuse. Cloudflare's data practices are described in their privacy policy. Turnstile is designed to operate without using cross-site tracking cookies; any cookies it sets are scoped to the verification challenge only.
3. What we do NOT use
- No analytics cookies or scripts (no Google Analytics, no PostHog, no Plausible).
- No advertising or marketing cookies.
- No third-party tracking pixels or fingerprinting scripts.
- No social-media buttons or embeds that track you across the web.
The cookie banner shown on first visit includes "Analytics" and "Marketing" toggles for forward compatibility, but both are currently inactive: no such cookies or scripts are loaded regardless of the toggle state. If we ever add optional analytics, we will update this page and request your fresh consent before any third-party script runs.
4. Legal basis
All cookies listed in Section 1 and the Cloudflare Turnstile cookies in Section 2.1 fall under the "strictly necessary" exemption in Art. 122(1) of D.Lgs. 196/2003 and Recital 25 of the ePrivacy Directive: they are indispensable to provide the service you have explicitly requested (signing in, playing the game, or protecting the sign-up form). They therefore do not require consent.
Should we introduce optional cookies in the future (e.g. analytics), we will seek your explicit consent before setting them, in line with Art. 7 GDPR and the applicable ePrivacy rules.
5. Managing your choices
You can reopen the cookie preferences panel at any time by clicking the "Cookie preferences" link in the site footer.
You can also control cookies directly in your browser:
- Block or delete all cookies — go to your browser settings and clear site data for archdle.it. Note that this will sign you out and reset your banner preference.
- Block specific cookies — most modern browsers allow you to view and delete individual cookies per domain.
- Clear localStorage — your browser's developer tools (Application → Storage → Local Storage) let you clear Archdle's localStorage items specifically.
